the erikarl 5kish!

wedding.  what immediately comes to mind?  love, flowers, cute little kids toddling down the isle scattering bits of vivisected flora?  no, of course not – you think that there is no way that you are going to be able to burn off all the calories from the 7 or 8 slices of wedding cake that you will inevitably eat.  and so close to the new year too!  there goes that resolution.

well this wedding has a solution to that particular little problem.  the morning of the wedding, rain or shine (well, maybe just shine), we are going to embark on a magical running extravaganza that is close enough to 5 kilometers.  you know, like when you set out to do a 15 miler and your GPS watch says 14.72, and someone asks you how far you ran – you tell them you did 15.  cause it’s close enough.  true, our little race will not be usatf certified, but it should be fun.  and there will be prizes to be awarded at the wedding.  if you don’t happen to be invited to the wedding (then really, why are you wasting your time on this blog?), then you are still more than welcome to come and race, but try not to win, cause, well, that would just be awkward when we awarded the prize.  i guess we could mail it to you or something.

anyway, here is the info:

  1. 7 or 8 pieces of wedding cake??? It’s a good thing I read this. I was only going to have 2. Now I know better.

  2. I am hereby registering for the Erikarl 5Kish. I do not have a facebook membership so will provide the necessary info below. Age: 4 yrs. Occupation: border patrol. Experience: running around borders. Sex: neutered. Breed: lab/border collie. I will be attending un-accompanied, so would like to have a running buddy (and a ride). I understand that Pat D. will be attending and he lives/runs nearby; perhaps I can ride and run with him. Do I get a t-shirt? I don’t know my size but will find a tape measure and get back to you. Please acknowledge my registration and who will be picking me up (and bring cake).

  3. I have been contacted by a herd of fans who have requested that the Cincinnati/Jets playoff game be changed from 4:30 pm on Saturday, January 9, 2010 to noon — in between the running extravaganza and the wedding of the decade. So . . .I was planning on changing the Bengals’ game time until I read the official wedding countdown timer (above).
According to that official timeclock, the wedding will occur at 8:30 am on Sunday, January 10th (yes, figure it out). Since I was advised that the website was designed by an IT consultant, it must be right, so apparently the 8:30am wedding will NOT conflict with the game. If I can be of further assistance, just have your people contact my people. And best wishes!
